Overview
Acromyrmex is the genus we recommend for smaller installations. Colonies stay more modest in size than Atta and lack a soldier caste, making them easier to manage — though workers are individually larger than Atta workers. Traditionally supplied to hobbyists and researchers, but with time and space a colony can still grow substantially and make a striking smaller-footprint display.
Care Notes
Slightly lower humidity tolerance than Atta but still needs a consistently humid fungus chamber. A very good starter genus for new exhibit keeper teams.
