Previous Zoo & Visitor Centre Setups
A selection of installations our network has designed, built and commissioned over the years — from narrow aquarium viewing tanks to multi-colony behind-the-scenes builds with walkways running straight through restaurant dining rooms. Acquario di Livorno
The nest tank at Acquario di Livorno measures 2.4m long, 1m high, and only 200mm front-to-back — deliberately narrow so the fungus gardens are always in clear view. Two feeding stations and two 30m walkways were installed, with some walkways routed through existing animal enclosures to help direct visitor attention through the building.
Blair Drummond Safari Park — Elephant House
Installed to give visitors an attraction to enjoy when the elephants were outdoors. The nest tank sits indoors with a viewing gallery overlooking the elephant enclosure, connected by a rope walkway that runs past windows in the elevated building structure.
Eligo Bio Research Facility
Designed for Eligo Bio, a leading medical research laboratory. Rather than a traditional tank, the colony is housed in a series of connected spheres, linked by a 20-metre rope walkway running from the nest to the feeding station, finished throughout in a clean laboratory aesthetic.
Chessington World of Adventures
One of our largest projects: two enormous colonies of approximately 150,000 ants each, with dual nest tanks installed behind the scenes. The feeding area features Aztec-themed hand-carved concrete, and the walkway runs through a decorative wall directly into a restaurant dining area.
Anglia Ruskin University
A self-contained, fully-themed printed display unit with the nest at one end and feeding platforms at the opposite end. Bright graphics and dramatic presentation were used throughout to captivate visitors passing through a high-traffic foyer space.
Techniquest Science Centre
A long, narrow tank design with a short walkway, concentrating activity into a minimal footprint — the feeding tank sits only a couple of metres from the nest, round the corner, so visitors get constant action without needing much floor space.
Dudley Zoo
A wall-mounted walkway board was one of the more innovative design elements developed for this installation, letting the colony forage across a vertical surface rather than the usual floor-level run.
